Wetherly Custom Furniture
Accessible. Nimble. Original.
“I often get asked, what is ‘wetherly’ and how is it ‘bespoke’?
“Wetherly” is a term that means classic, traditionally-inspired design has been applied with simplified decorative components and high functionality. When I returned to Cincinnati after 5 years in NC, I was astounded at how large my furniture looked in my charming Mariemont home. Our home in NC was similar, but our Southern home was designed for very large furniture to fill the form. It made me realize there is a uniquely mid-western aesthetic that requires a different type of furniture altogether. This made me curious about furniture design in any medium. I found time and time again that the scale of furniture, especially upholstered furniture, ordered by my clients from the typical box stores (before they called my team) often created issues. The design projects’ focus had to then shift to forcing these pieces to work, instead of creating harmony and enhancing the rooms. This led me to realize there was a gap in the marketplace for bespoke furniture.
“Bespoke” simply means “made for a particular customer or user”. I like to differentiate this from ‘custom’ furniture. Mention ‘custom’ furniture, and it often suggests that it will cost a fortune. The mission for Wetherly Bespoke Furniture is to dispel this myth and show client’s that furniture can be cut exactly to their specifications and also be priced comparably with the popular catalogue furniture offerings.”
How it Works
Step 1 - Measure the room
Provide Waltz & Wetherly with the dimensions of your room. Provide photos of each wall within the space and any existing furniture pieces that must remain in the space.
Step 2 - Develop a furniture footprint
The perimeter of the room is not always the best place to place furniture. From the measurements and photos Waltz & Wetherly helps you develop a furniture footprint plan for where furniture will sit in the space. We often call this anchoring the space.
Step 3 - Design It!
Waltz & Wetherly will then provide recommendations of pieces that will work perfectly within the square footage of your furniture footprint. These pieces will be tailored specifically to your style aesthetic and inches will be added or subtracted
Step 5 - Approve your design
Once the pieces are selected, Waltz & Wetherly will work with you to pair them with the perfect upholstery. Once the pieces are sized and upholstery is selected, your designer will provide you with a final quote, a projected timeline to delivery, and a projected freight cost.
Step 6 - Receive and enjoy!
Once your furniture ships to Waltz & Wetherly’s receiving warehouse, we will contact you to arrange delivery. Send us pictures of your beautiful furniture in use! We would love to add them to our collection and show others your fabulous
#wetherlybespoke furniture!
